Thanks to COVID-19, ski season in Morzine is looking a bit different this year. However, there is still plenty you can do over the festive period that makes it an ideal winter getaway.
While the restrictions mean that skiing is largely off the table, we at Chalet Heavenly think that there are still plenty of great reasons to visit this beautiful part of the world.
Here is our guide to everything you can do in Morzine this festive season.
Under current guidelines, all ski lifts will be closed for the festive season. There is currently no news on the precise opening date, but it will be in January.
Because of this, activities like skiing and snowboarding will be limited. While there is no specific ban on using the mountains without the lifts at the moment, it’s important to note that anyone wishing to go ski touring or splitboarding will be doing so at their own risk. The risk level is somewhat higher at present; pistes may not be marked and regular mountain rescue services will not be on patrol.
Lift operating companies will be maintaining the ski area and preparing to reopen, so will likely be carrying out measures such as avalanche clearing, snowmaking, or moving equipment. Because of this added risk, visitors are advised to take extreme caution and seek advice from an experienced local guide.
The beauty of cross-country skiing is that it takes you off the beaten track, away from ski lifts and queues. The dedicated cross-country skiing trails will be maintained as usual, and accessible free of charge. Equipment will also be available to rent from the resort shops.
There will still be dedicated snowshoeing routes for you to enjoy, with equipment available to hire in many local shops.
Bars and restaurants will be closed until 20 January 2021. Luckily, when you stay at Chalet Heavenly incredible food is part of the luxury service we offer.
With our fully catered option, you can expect to start your day with either a continental or hot breakfast. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a delicious afternoon tea of freshly baked cakes, breads and preserves. Then, to top everything off, dinner will be a sumptuous four-course meal prepared by your very own professional chef.
Many restaurants in the area will be offering takeaway or delivery service as well. You’ll be able to pick up additional supplies in the local supermarkets, but please note that strict sanitary procedures are being observed and you will need to wear a mask.
While public transport will still be running, you can take the stress out of getting around with our private driver service. Your private chauffeur will be at your disposal to transport you to the shops and surrounding areas.
Your winter break might be a little different this year, but with Chalet Heavenly you won’t feel like you’re missing out. Enjoy the beauty of Morzine and let yourself be completely pampered when you book a stay at Chalet Heavenly.
