Morzine & Avoriaz
One of the biggest ski areas in the world, the Portes du Soleil area is vast, with 426km of pistes spread across 13 different ski resorts in France and Switzerland. There are 286 pistes and 30 snowparks all accessed by around 200 ski lifts.
Nestled at the centre of Portes du Soleil is Morzine, an authentic Alpine village set deep in the picturesque Chablais mountain range between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc by the France-Switzerland border. Just over an hour's drive from Geneva Airport, the thriving town has grown over the years to become a flourishing ski resort in winter and a popular biking, hiking and climbing destination in summer.
The bustling resort is filled with tree-lined green, blue and red runs to suit skiers of all abilities. In fact, the whole ski area encompasses 34 green pistes, 119 blue pistes, 101 red pistes and 32 black pistes. For more information, please click here.
Morzine is also linked directly to the resorts of Les Gets and Avoriaz which boasts a plethora of après ski and dining options and is home to two popular music festivals, Transition and Snowboxx; Europe’s biggest snowpark, the Stash; and Aquariaz, an indoor water park bursting with tropical plants.
From family-friendly activities to extreme sports, Morzine, Avoriaz and the whole of the Portes du Soleil region really do have it all with a backdrop of some of the most heavenly scenery the world has to offer. As well as the world class slopes, there is an abundance of other activities to discover such as swimming, ice skating, hockey, snow shoe trekking and you can even try your hand riding a snow scooter.
